Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus

Hebrews 12:2-3 · KJV

When we feel overwhelmed or tempted to lose heart, the answer is not to try harder in our own strength, but to look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

Hebrews 12:2-3 · KJV

This passage encourages believers to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus during difficult times. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He began the work of faith in us, and He will faithfully help us finish the race He has set before us.

When we feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or tempted to lose heart, the answer is not simply to try harder in our own strength, but to look to Jesus. He endured the cross, faced rejection, and overcame every trial. As we focus on Him and spend time in His Word, our perspective begins to change. Fear gives way to faith, anxiety is replaced with peace, and discouragement is transformed into hope.

By considering all that Christ endured for our sake, we find renewed strength to persevere. The more we look to Jesus, the more we are reminded that He is with us, sustaining us and leading us forward until the race is complete.

As we fix our eyes on Jesus and meditate on Him, let us remember that He endured the cross and won the victory. For the joy set before Him, fulfilling God's plan, bringing salvation to humanity, and restoring people to God, He willingly suffered the cross and bore its shame. He rose again in triumph and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus endured hostility, rejection, and suffering so that we could receive freedom, forgiveness, and eternal life. His example gives us the strength to persevere and remain faithful in every season of life. When we face hardships, opposition, or discouragement, let us remember all that Jesus endured on our behalf. He is our perfect example of endurance, obedience, and faithfulness.

Whatever is making you weary, burdened, or discouraged today, bring it to God. Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you. Trust in His strength rather than your own, and He will sustain you. As Jesus promised:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28 · KJV

When we keep our eyes fixed on Christ, we find renewed hope, strength for the journey, and peace for our souls. The psalmist declares, "Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be put to shame." Let us continually look to Jesus, trusting in His faithfulness, power, and unfailing love. As we keep our eyes fixed on Him, He will guide us, strengthen us, and carry us through every challenge until the race is finished.
